IN THE NEWS: Worn & Wound Features the Humboldt GMT SAR Edition
We're super proud of our latest limited edition release. The Humboldt GMT SAR Edition is the result of a collaboration with the St. Louis County Search and Rescue Squad, a group of highly trained volunteers who patrol Minnesota's Boundary Waters.
Our good friend Zach Kazan, managing editor at Worn & Wound, writes that the purpose-built nature of this watch is what people have come to expect from Oak & Oscar. "When you think of Oak & Oscar, you probably immediately think of the brand's midwest roots, a love of the outdoors, and, of course, bourbon. Their latest release, a 50 piece limited collaboration with the St. Louis County Rescue Squad, combines at least two of these ideas, and the result is a handsome, sporty GMT that fits right in Oak & Oscar's wheelhouse."
Zach points out that the watch's use case is both a practical asset for people who will wear this watch in the field as well as an interesting piece of horological design in its own right. "I'm a fan of this style of highly specific watch design and think watches like the Humboldt seen here can be just as easily enjoyed by enthusiasts well outside the world of the brave men and women who do these difficult jobs and appreciated mainly for the novelty of their design."
He concludes that Oak & Oscar is "putting a spotlight on a group that is doing difficult and important work and recontextualizing a core watch in their collection along the way."
Thanks for putting a spotlight on us and the Search and Rescue Squad, Zach! If you want a durable, purpose-built watch to your own collection, click here to shop the Humboldt GMT SAR Edition before they're gone!
