IN THE NEWS: Watches by SJX Features the Atwood Chronograph

Watch blog “Watches by SJX” just published a review of the Atwood chronograph.

In the article, Brandon Moore emphasized the fact that we’ve developed our own design language that’s remained a through line across all our offerings, including our latest release, the Atwood: “Over the past nine years, the brand has managed to develop its own recognisable minimalist aesthetic across a range of versatile go-anywhere, do-anything sports watches.”

Moore noted that one particular feature at which Oak & Oscar excels is our use of bold color, and the Atwood has no shortage of that. “The brand’s signature orange seconds hand is complemented by matching accents on the sub-dials, a stylistic choice that evokes sporty ‘70s chronographs like the Tudor Monte Carlo. But the design still manages to feel fresh thanks to the brand’s own strikingly modern typeface.”

We worked hard to design a compelling chronograph in a wearable case, an element that did not go unnoticed: “The Atwood addresses one of the few shortcomings of the Jackson, which is the latter’s 14.5mm case thickness. The 39mm Atwood is comparatively slim at just 12.9mm, a figure that includes the domed sapphire crystal, meaning that visually it will appear even thinner.”

Moore also paid attention to the Atwood’s use of high-contrast colors that make for a legible dial design. “The Atwood is available in three colourways, including one panda format and the other two in reverse panda, with a choice of either warm grey or navy blue dial. Like other Oak & Oscar watches, the specific shades of each colour are well-considered and appealing.”

We're honored to be featured in such a well-regarded publication that pays attention to the technical details. Indeed, it's a favorite of our watchmaker, Nathan.
