IN THE NEWS: Mainspring Reviews the Atwood Chronograph

Vincent Deschamps, of the Mainspring Watch Magazine, was among the first to lay eyes on the Atwood in NYC in the fall of 2023. He loved it then, but now that he’s had an opportunity to go hands on with our new chronograph, he’s even more enamored!
Vincent writes that, for various reasons, he’s not been the biggest fan of chronographs. “More often than I would like to amidst, a watch friend asked whether or not I’ll ever add a chronograph to my collection and the answer always was ‘no.’” Whether it’s the size, the cost, or the design, he simply hasn’t found the right chronograph that speaks to him. But recently, his stance on chronos has begun to change thanks, in part, to the Atwood.
The proportions are what really grab him. “The Oak & Oscar Atwood comes with a handsome 39mm case diameter, a 46mm lug-to-lug, a total thickness of 12.9mm, and a lug width of 20mm…The Atwood feels and appears compact on the wrist which is glorious, and its design highly contributes to that impression.”
The manually wound movement that powers the Atwood gets a shoutout, too. “The Sellita AMT5100M column wheel flyback caliber not only makes it possible to time many things but also come with a semi-soft, semi-tactical action of the pushers.”
Vincent also raves about the design. “Looking at any model from the brand, it is clear there is a theme going on here: classical dial layouts and case shapes paired with contemporary, contrasting, and subtle color schemes. All models from the brand appear modern and bold without ever overdoing it.” He concludes that “the dial of the Atwood is a superb exercise in balance which contributes in making this model so neat to wear and look at.”
Vincent writes that the “Oak & Oscar Atwood has changed the way I look at [chronographs] now, and that’s what good design and thoughtful horological entrepreneurship will do to you.”
We’re really proud of this watch, and we’re so glad you love it, too, Vincent!
