2024 Chicago Windup Watch Fair Recap

The Windup Watch Fair is one of our favorite events of the year. The event brings people together for a full weekend of horology, design, fun, and community. We love it even more when Windup happens in our own backyard right here in Chicago!

This edition of the Windup Watch Fair convened over 40 brands in both the horology and EDC spaces in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago.

Things kicked off with a bang on Friday. The event space was full of watch enthusiasts eager to see the latest releases from their favorite brands.

We here at Oak & Oscar were excited to finally showcase the new Atwood chronograph in the metal. Several folks who already purchased one came by just to see what they could expect when their watch ships. I think it’s safe to say that no one was disappointed!

The word ‘perfect’ was tossed around more than once as folks strapped the Atwood to their wrists. Even James Stacey himself couldn’t believe the fit and finish on this thing!

From the action on the pushers, to the clean, high contrast dial design, the people of Windup were impressed. And for us, there's nothing more satisfying than seeing a watch we created look so darn good on so many different wrists.

We kept the momentum rolling with a party at the Goose Island Taproom on Friday night.

There were plenty of Chicagoans in attendance, but we also had folks from Maine, Rhode Island, and elsewhere join in on the fun. It was so great to see some old friends and meet new people. We had a blast drinking Goose Island’s finest, sharing stories, and talking watches.

Saturday was another busy day at Windup as we welcomed several new Owners and saw some familiar faces. In fact, we were having so much fun talking with people that, before we knew it, the day was over.

We closed out the show on Sunday with an appearance from our mascot, Oscar! Everyone loved saying hello to the guy who’s the real boss around the HQ.

This edition of the Windup Watch Fair was one for the books, and we can’t wait for the next one!
