Less is more. Re-introducing the Olmsted Matte, the classic field watch that you know and love—with a non-reflective, durable ceramic coating that helps it disappear on your wrist. In a nod to simplicity and symmetry, we’ve removed the date function for a super clean look. And no, there’s no phantom date jump or crown position! We do things right.
Each Matte Series watch is individually coated in small batches right here in the United States. The coating process uses incredibly high temperatures to harden and cure the ceramic, leaving behind an even matte surface.
Individual case components are coated separately for a precise and even ceramic surface. We even engineered and machined precision "dummy" components, almost as expensive as the case itself, to protect the threads on our cases, casebacks, crowns and tubes to ensure perfect precision. The patina developed over time will be specific to the wearer and one of a kind.
Each watch is hand-assembled, tested and regulated at our Chicago headquarters by our head in-house watchmaker and Director of Watchmaking, Nathan. We’re very proud to continue the tradition of watchmaking here in the US and are dedicated to the art, craft and a little touch of mad-science that is horology.
We're doing it the right way, not the easy way. All of those extra steps mean that the first edition of the Matte Series is a limited production piece. Not limited edition—we won't be cutting these off at a specific serial—but we just can't crank 'em out the way we'd like for regular production. So if you want one, order now before our first batch runs out otherwise you’ll have to wait for the next series!
Functional, understated design.
The Olmsted Matte was our very first publicly available time-only watch. Our iconic full-numeral sandwich dial with orange-accented cardinal minute indicators just got that much cleaner. Who knew a simple “6” could add so much?
