The Olmsted 38 is a classic, automatic winding, 38mm field watch with a two-layer sandwich dial, 10 ATM (100m / 330ft), screw-down crown, and inner minute track with orange cardinal numeral accents.

The Olmsted 38 takes its namesake from conservationist and founder of landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted – an avid believer in the need of natural public space in society. Olmsted is responsible for designing many of the public parks in the United States; notably, Central Park in New York City, and Jackson Park in Chicago. Throughout a fascinating life, Olmsted pushed for the protection of Yosemite Valley, created the parkway, the integrated park system, and founded the precursor to the Red Cross.

The engine powering The Olmsted is the legendary, Swiss-made, ETA 2892A2, a workhorse calibre with 21 jewels, a substantial 42-hour power reserve, and our iconic 4-star rotor design – a subtle nod to our hometown of Chicago.

    Perfect Size

The Olmsted is the perfect balance of rugged construction, design and size. The dial is highly legible and the watch works well on a hike, on a date or in a meeting. It has become my go-to...when my wife's not wearing it. It's just the perfect size.

    What I was looking for

This watch is exactly the watch I had been searching for. Perfect size for my wrist, simple but robust design, a great automatic movement, rugged enough for my active lifestyle, and can be worn in different settings.

    The perfect Dress/Casual/Field watch Combo

I was looking for a watch that was dressy enough to wear to work everyday but casual enough to wear to the bar. The Olmstead 38 is perfect for all occasions! I'm amazed at how white the white dial is (sounds weird, but when you buy one you will understand). The watch is SUPER legible, and who doesn't like a little pop of orange on the second hand? I purchased the metal strap and it is incredibly comfortable and very easy to remove links/adjust. The watch is weighted perfectly. Heavy enough to feel like you are wearing a solid watch that can take a beating, but light enough you don't notice it in your wrist. Thickness is also perfect, it sits close to the wrist and I can barely tell its there! This watch is currently trading time with my Speedmaster FOIS, but I tend to always want to wear the Olmstead!

    Classic Timepiece with Chicago Ties

This is my first real automatic watch in a long, long time and it's wonderful. The fit, finish and style are just perfect. More important, I was looking for something a little different from what most people had. An added bonus--getting to meet and correspond with the guys who actually make it. Most of the products we use come to us by third parties, so it's refreshing to get to talk to the people who are the creators of something you'll use to frequently.

    Frequent flier

As someone who thought I would not pursue watches smaller than 40mm the Olmsted has won me over and has been a constant on my wrist. The Oak and Oscar Burnham was an instant favorite for me. Even though the Olmsted is smaller than it’s oldest brother, it announces its presence and demands attention when you walk into a room with it on your wrist. The Burnham and the Olmsted will be fighting equal wearing time
