The Olmsted 38 is a classic, automatic winding, 38mm field watch with a two-layer sandwich dial, 10 ATM (100m / 330ft), screw-down crown, and inner minute track with orange cardinal numeral accents.

The Olmsted 38 takes its namesake from conservationist and founder of landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted – an avid believer in the need of natural public space in society. Olmsted is responsible for designing many of the public parks in the United States; notably, Central Park in New York City, and Jackson Park in Chicago. Throughout a fascinating life, Olmsted pushed for the protection of Yosemite Valley, created the parkway, the integrated park system, and founded the precursor to the Red Cross.

The engine powering The Olmsted 38 is the legendary, Swiss-made, ETA 2892A2, a workhorse calibre with 21 jewels, a substantial 42-hour power reserve, and our iconic 4-star rotor design – a subtle nod to our hometown of Chicago.

We’re proud of our Horween leather straps and the craftsmanship that goes into them. From the hand-beveled edges with applied water-based dye to the hidden orange stitching on the floating keeper, our leather strap tapers from 20mm to 18mm at the buckle for a comfortable fit.

Our stainless steel bracelet sits comfortably on the wrist with a fully articulated link design that gradually tapers from the 20mm solid end links to the 16mm buckle.

The bracelet has 7 removable links and 5 micro-adjustments on the locking clasp. The bracelet will fit wrists from 6.2 inches to 9.1 inches (158mm - 231mm).

    Uniquely special

I got this watch because it was unique and different… but also excellent craftsmanship and design. Incredibly happy with the decision.

    Wonderful Watch

First, let me say that this is a 5-Star watch. I recently sold a Breitling and the Olmsted filled the hole in my collection. Also, I have read the comparisons of the Olmsted to IWC's Mark and Spitfire lines. In my opinion this watch easily equals the Breitling and is fairly comparable to the IWC's. The design (especially the subtlety of some elements), fit, finish, and overall execution is superb. Four stars? Well, the leather strap is a miss. Not that it isn't well made - it is. But it is not properly proportioned. Chase was kind enough to include a long strap (my wrist is just shy of 8"), which I really appreciate. I measured the strap against a few others on hand. Most regular straps are sized around 125mm/75mm with long straps measuring around 140mm/80mm. This strap measures at 136mm/70mm. It just doesn't work. I do note that the watch just pops on a nylon strap!

So, will another Oak & Oscar make it's way into my collection - probably. Will I recommend Oak & Oscar - absolutely. Just stick with the bracelet if you're larger wristed...

Clean and readable look and excellent service

I had a great experience buying this watch. From the communication about getting it read and shipped to opening the package.

The watch itself is very nice with a clean look and very easy to read. It is on the light side with leather band and, while I like larger pieces, it wears well on my wrist.

    Wonderful watch, great company

The Olmsted is just as charming, beautiful, and comfortable as I expected it to be. I love the sandwich dial, and the "Navy" color is a great subdued shade. I got both the bracelet and the leather strap; I love both and I'm constantly switching between them. The watch was delivered with a kind, handwritten letter from Chase. The case the watch comes in is a great for travel and storage, not just a box to hide in a closet. Overall, I'm delighted and I know I'll be wearing and admiring this watch for years to come.

Olmsted 38 in White Dial with Leather Strap

I love the design of this watch! It exudes a modern and a vintage vibe at the same time. At 38mm it is very wearable, and the lug shape and the not overly thick case, work together to provide a comfortable fit. The finish of the 316 stainless steel case is exquisite. The design of the cutout stenciled numbers is beautiful. The face is extremely matte, and because of this, it reflects no light, which gives the watch a depth, and some mystery, because you can't see what it is made of, it is so matte. I find that aspect very interesting. The date window integrates well with the face design, as to the logos. The second hand is the standout, both in color orange and with the interesting shapes at each end of the hand. It is fun to watch them move around the dial. The screw down crown works seamlessly, and the winder has a high quality feel. The strap is also very high quality. The only thing I would consider doing differently, is to have a more standard taper on the band, from 20mm to 16mm rather than to 18mm. I find the buckle just a bit chunky for the size of the watch and my wrist. Otherwise, the Olmsted is pure perfection, and exists comfortably among my modern and vintage Rolexes and other vintage pieces. I can't seem to take it off.
