The Olmsted 38 is a classic, automatic winding, 38mm field watch with a two-layer sandwich dial, 10 ATM (100m / 330ft), screw-down crown, and inner minute track with orange cardinal numeral accents.

The Olmsted 38 takes its namesake from conservationist and founder of landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted – an avid believer in the need of natural public space in society. Olmsted is responsible for designing many of the public parks in the United States; notably, Central Park in New York City, and Jackson Park in Chicago. Throughout a fascinating life, Olmsted pushed for the protection of Yosemite Valley, created the parkway, the integrated park system, and founded the precursor to the Red Cross.

The engine powering The Olmsted 38 is either Sellita SW300 or the ETA 2892A2, both legendary, Swiss-made, solid workhorse movements customized with our iconic 4-star rotor design – a subtle nod to our hometown of Chicago.

We’re proud of our Horween leather straps and the craftsmanship that goes into them. From the hand-beveled edges with applied water-based dye to the hidden orange stitching on the floating keeper, our leather strap tapers from 20mm to 18mm at the buckle for a comfortable fit.

Our stainless steel bracelet sits comfortably on the wrist with a fully articulated link design that gradually tapers from the 20mm solid end links to the 16mm buckle.

The bracelet has 7 removable links and a six position quick-adjust, locking clasp. Yup, that means no tools required to adjust the fit on the fly! The bracelet will fit wrists from 6.2 inches to 9.1 inches (158mm - 231mm).

    NEAR PERFECTION

The watch is beautiful and fits my wrist as though it was custom made for me. The leather band is supple and comfortable, really needing no breaking in. Then, what's the problem? Unless I am outside or in direct lighting, I cannot see the dial well enough to read the time. The white hands and numerals become gray and blend into the dial. I had not expected that.

    the effort shows

Very happy with this purchase, and with Oak & Oscar as a company. When you buy from them, you feel like they take care of you, right down to the thoughtful extras they include with the full kit (a very nice, and unexpected, carrying case for 2 watches and extra tools/straps, etc.). When I met Chase at the Windup Watch Fair in NYC, he expressed to me how much time, thought and effort they put into the watch & bracelet design. This has been proven out each time I put the watch on over the past 2 months since my purchase. Well done, and I'm glad to be part of the club.

    Great everyday watch.

Great everyday watch. Like having a more casual band option and the included tool for changing the bands, It was fun to meet the principles at the watch fair in NYC. Serendipity, is wasn't part of my travel plans.

    Great Watch

I'm very happy with my purchase. The finishing is great and it keeps excellent time. The blue dial has to be seen in person to appreciate. The color varies quite a bit based on lighting conditions. Best blue dial watch I've owned. Also, the bracelet is very comfortable. The quick adjust feature is fantastic! I've owned a lot of watches over the years and have never owned a bracelet with this feature. I tend to gravitate towards straps because of natural changes is wrist size that can occur frequently. The quick change feature is a game changer. Finally a bracelet that I can quickly adjust!

    Great every day watch

My first Oak and Oscar watch and I couldn’t be more pleased. It’s very comfortable to wear and I catch myself starring at it a lot during the day. The sandwich dial is truly stunning.
