The Olmsted 38 is a classic, automatic winding, 38mm field watch with a two-layer sandwich dial, 10 ATM (100m / 330ft), screw-down crown, and inner minute track with orange cardinal numeral accents.

The Olmsted 38 takes its namesake from conservationist and founder of landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted – an avid believer in the need of natural public space in society. Olmsted is responsible for designing many of the public parks in the United States; notably, Central Park in New York City, and Jackson Park in Chicago. Throughout a fascinating life, Olmsted pushed for the protection of Yosemite Valley, created the parkway, the integrated park system, and founded the precursor to the Red Cross.

The engine powering The Olmsted 38 is the legendary, Swiss-made, ETA 2892A2, a workhorse calibre with 21 jewels, a substantial 42-hour power reserve, and our iconic 4-star rotor design – a subtle nod to our hometown of Chicago.

We’re proud of our Horween leather straps and the craftsmanship that goes into them. From the hand-beveled edges with applied water-based dye to the hidden orange stitching on the floating keeper, our leather strap tapers from 20mm to 18mm at the buckle for a comfortable fit.

Our stainless steel bracelet sits comfortably on the wrist with a fully articulated link design that gradually tapers from the 20mm solid end links to the 16mm buckle.

The bracelet has 7 removable links and 5 micro-adjustments on the locking clasp. The bracelet will fit wrists from 6.2 inches to 9.1 inches (158mm - 231mm).

    Excellent choice

Have now had the new watch on my arm for more than two weeks and am satisfied to say the least. In the search for a replacement for my previous 20 year old watch, my digital evaluation was rigorous and included both micro-brands and other major brands. In the end I landed in an Olmsted 38. It is solid, stylish and suitable for all occasions. Should already be a classic.

    Olmsted silver bracelet

I wanted a high quality everyday watch that didn’t need a luxury brand name to make it stand out and the Olmstead has been perfect. I love the combination of classic design and subtle details. I’ve used it with both the silver bracelet and the nato strap. Buying this one was a big splurge for me, and I’m already thinking about getting another O&O. Also should note how great it has been to get to know Chase, who didn’t mind that I wanted to hear more about being a dad than I did about the watches.

    Sweet Spot

Love it. 38-38.5mm is a sweet spot for me and I'm not disappointed. The blue dial is easy to read in dim light and the night lume is good. For me it is too nice to be a tool watch. Perfect for a nice dinner out, especially with a cuff.

Unfortunately my wife zeroed in on it also to use as an "accent" piece. I'll get it back when she realizes that she doesn't know how to keep it wound or how to reset it.

    Uniquely special

I got this watch because it was unique and different… but also excellent craftsmanship and design. Incredibly happy with the decision.

    Wonderful Watch

First, let me say that this is a 5-Star watch. I recently sold a Breitling and the Olmsted filled the hole in my collection. Also, I have read the comparisons of the Olmsted to IWC's Mark and Spitfire lines. In my opinion this watch easily equals the Breitling and is fairly comparable to the IWC's. The design (especially the subtlety of some elements), fit, finish, and overall execution is superb. Four stars? Well, the leather strap is a miss. Not that it isn't well made - it is. But it is not properly proportioned. Chase was kind enough to include a long strap (my wrist is just shy of 8"), which I really appreciate. I measured the strap against a few others on hand. Most regular straps are sized around 125mm/75mm with long straps measuring around 140mm/80mm. This strap measures at 136mm/70mm. It just doesn't work. I do note that the watch just pops on a nylon strap!

So, will another Oak & Oscar make it's way into my collection - probably. Will I recommend Oak & Oscar - absolutely. Just stick with the bracelet if you're larger wristed...
