The Olmsted 38 is a classic, automatic winding, 38mm field watch with a two-layer sandwich dial, 10 ATM (100m / 330ft), screw-down crown, and inner minute track with orange cardinal numeral accents.

The Olmsted 38 takes its namesake from conservationist and founder of landscape architecture, Frederick Law Olmsted – an avid believer in the need of natural public space in society. Olmsted is responsible for designing many of the public parks in the United States; notably, Central Park in New York City, and Jackson Park in Chicago. Throughout a fascinating life, Olmsted pushed for the protection of Yosemite Valley, created the parkway, the integrated park system, and founded the precursor to the Red Cross.

The engine powering The Olmsted 38 is either Sellita SW300 or the ETA 2892A2, both legendary, Swiss-made, solid workhorse movements customized with our iconic 4-star rotor design – a subtle nod to our hometown of Chicago.

We’re proud of our Horween leather straps and the craftsmanship that goes into them. From the hand-beveled edges with applied water-based dye to the hidden orange stitching on the floating keeper, our leather strap tapers from 20mm to 18mm at the buckle for a comfortable fit.

Our stainless steel bracelet sits comfortably on the wrist with a fully articulated link design that gradually tapers from the 20mm solid end links to the 16mm buckle.

The bracelet has 7 removable links and a six position quick-adjust, locking clasp. Yup, that means no tools required to adjust the fit on the fly! The bracelet will fit wrists from 6.2 inches to 9.1 inches (158mm - 231mm).

    Olmsted White Dial - beautiful

I love this watch. I am somewhat new in my watch collecting journey so not an expert (or even proficient) in technical specs and buy/collect based on what pleases me aesthetically. Something about the intricacies of a watch face just pique my interest. This watch delivers, big time. I bought it primarily for the NATO strap casual/weekend wear but this watch on the metal bracelet is a thing of beauty and is close to overtaking my Speedy as my daily watch for work. I know, Speedy can go on NATO strap too but I was trying to streamline things and have one metal bracelet watch and one nato strap watch for summer :). Anywho, the watch case it came in and overall lightning fast shipping just made the whole experience even better. This will not be last purchase from this rock solid outfit out of Chicago. I’m proud to be a new owner, and will be cheering Oak and Oscar on from Massachusetts (and contributing to their coffers again soon!). Cheers all!

The field watch that gets the details right

The ideal field watch size and proportions, drilled lugs, lovely well-made bracelet, micro adjust built in to clasp, very high quality dial. All with well-thought out coherent design that is not an homage to anything else. And all from an American brand that has built a great reputation and cares about its customers. Wow!

    Second O&O watch, love it

I have the white face with date, and I currently have the Horween leather band on it.

Absolutely love it. It's a subtle design, feels light on the wrist but not flimsy. It's a fantastic summer watch.

I have bigger wrists than average, and the watch looks great: not too big, not too small.

    My new everyday watch

I waited a while (too long) before purchasing my Olmsted, but I am really glad I did. This watch has exceeded my expectations in terms of build and quality, and the Chicago flag reference on the back is a unique touch. It has quickly become my everyday watch, combining style, quality, and a subtle reminder of my favorite city.
